The most profitable way to make money treasure hunting is to buy maps from other players and dig them up yourself. You can also get treasure maps from monsters but it is very seldom you will find one. 

Treasure chests contain: A gold amount equal to the map level multiplied my 1,000. for example if you have a level 2 treasure map it would contain 2,000 gold coins, a level 3 map would contain 3,000 gold. Each chest also contains a certain amount of reagents and magical items. Higher level treasure maps will contain powerful magic weapons such and Power and Vanquishing.
