Written and Revised by Playy V 1.0.0 There are many techniques to becoming a GM Smith, this essay will only discuss one of them, while periodically referring to others. This essay is meant as a guild to reach the skill of GM Blacksmithy, and will not give information on profiting from the skill. Blacksmithy gain is very time consuming. GM Blacksmithy skill can be reached usually within 50-80 hours of work, if used properly. Supplies: You will need either a constant flow of ingots or a mass amount of ingots to start with. Ingots can be mined by the smith (with mining skill), if done so, reaching GM smithy will take 3-4 times as long to reach. Technique to Gain: Between 50-65 skill a smith
should never make an item that uses more than 10 ingots. At this skill
level, various weapons can be made to gain skill but at a high failure
rate. Chain mail coifs are a very fast skill gainer for smiths, with a
low fail rate, and a high skill gain rate, Chain coifs are the choice item
to make for low skill smiths. From 66-75 skill smiths should focus on making
weapons, choosing weapons that you will fail to make about 3/4 times. This
will take more ingots but will gain skill quickly. From skill 76-85 you
can begin making platemail and more difficult weapons. Platemail will often
fail, but will raise skill fast and can also be useful. From 86-95 skill
you should fully focus on platemail and katanas, at this level it is possible
to make both of these items exceptional and can be used for combat as a
good defense or weapon. From the skill 96-100 gains will be very slow,
but it will be well worth your while to obtain GM status. At this point
you should make plate chests and legs until you reach the GM level.
