This essay will discuss the different types of poisons available, also the different situation that different strengths of poison will be used for. How to make money with the poisoning skill will be briefly discussed.

Types: There are 4 different strengths of poison in Ultima. These are lesser, normal, greater, and deadly. Lesser poison are the weakest poisons available in the game, these can be made by a low skilled alchemist. These poisons will also be inflicted on a combatant when fighting a snake, spider or other small poisonous creatures. Normal poisons can be purchased at the alchemy shops, and are also very easy to make. These poisons will do very low amounts of damage to a player of monster. Greater poisons are the most commonly used poisons in PvP battles and also in PvM battles. These poisons are fairly easy to make and will deal a good amount of damage to an opponent. These poisons are often sold in Kegs and are very common. The strongest poison that a player can make is a deadly poison. These poisons are very strong and can kill a player in a matter on seconds. These poisons can be the difference between winning and loosing in a PvP battle. These kegs are very rare and valuable.

How to make money: Alchemy is a very profitable skill once you reach high levels. Many 90+ alchemists make the majority of their money be selling full kegs of potion on vendors around the world. By selling kegs on vendors you have time to make more and still make a fair amount of money. Kegs can also be easily sold at the bank of any busy town. Greater heal, Greater cure, and greater/deadly poison kegs will sell quickly and will give you a good profit.
